Delete Your Data
Last updated: 5 July 2026
We believe you should have full control over your data. This page explains exactly how to delete your FareChecked account and all associated data.
Your options
You have two ways to delete your data:
Option 1: In-app deletion (instant)
The fastest way to delete your data is through the FareChecked app:
- Open the FareChecked app on your Android device
- Go to Settings
- Tap "Delete My Account"
- Confirm the deletion when prompted
What happens: Your account is deleted immediately. This permanently removes:
- Your Firestore document (all account data in our database)
- Your Firebase Auth account — you will be signed out. If you sign in again later, a new FareChecked account may be created.
Timeline: Instant. Once confirmed, deletion cannot be undone.
Option 2: Email request
If you prefer, you can request deletion by email:
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Use the subject line: "Delete My Data"
- Include the email address associated with your FareChecked account in the body
What happens: We will process your request and confirm once your data has been deleted.
Timeline: Within 30 days of receiving your request.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the following data is permanently removed from our servers:
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| Email address | Your Google account email |
| Display name | Your Google account display name |
| Firebase UID | Your unique Firebase identifier |
| Device information | Device model, Android version, app version |
| Device UUID | Your per-install random identifier |
| Trial/subscription status | All subscription data and timestamps |
| Session timestamps | lastSeenAt and all activity timestamps |
| Device change count | deviceChangeCount history |
What may not be deleted immediately
- Crash reports may remain in Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days according to Firebase retention settings.
What does NOT need deletion
The following data is stored only on your device and is removed simply by uninstalling the app:
- App settings and preferences
- Local diagnostic logs
- Any cached OCR results
To remove this data: Uninstall the FareChecked app from your Android device (Settings → Apps → FareChecked → Uninstall).
No additional steps are needed — uninstalling removes everything stored locally.
After deletion
- You will be signed out. If you sign in again later, a new FareChecked account may be created.
- Deleting your FareChecked account does not automatically cancel any Google Play subscription. You must cancel subscriptions through Google Play.
- Deletion is permanent and irreversible
Other data rights
Deleting your account is one way to exercise your rights. You may also:
- Request a copy of your data — email [email protected] with subject "Data Access Request"
- Correct inaccurate data — email [email protected] with subject "Data Correction"
- Object to or restrict processing — email [email protected] with subject "Processing Objection"
