Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using the FareChecked application ("the App", "the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "user", "driver") and FareChecked ("we", "us", "our").

2. Service description

FareChecked is a fare monitoring overlay for Android devices. It analyses ride offer cards displayed on driver apps (such as Uber and Bolt) and provides drivers with earnings estimates and decision-support information, including:

  • Estimated earnings per hour
  • Estimated earnings per mile/kilometre
  • Fare amount and trip details (distance, duration)
  • Fare quality indicators

FareChecked operates as an overlay — a floating window that appears alongside your driver app. It reads information visible on your screen to perform its analysis.

FareChecked is a decision-support tool, not a decision-making tool. All decisions about whether to accept or reject a ride offer remain solely your responsibility.

3. User responsibilities

By using FareChecked, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You hold a valid driver account with Uber, Bolt, or another supported ride-hailing platform
  • You will comply with the Terms of Service of any ride-hailing platform you use
  • You are responsible for ensuring that your use of FareChecked does not violate any platform's terms
  • You will not use FareChecked for any illegal purpose or in violation of applicable law
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials

4. No guarantee of accuracy

FareChecked uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to read fare card information from your screen. While we strive for accuracy:

  • OCR may misread text — especially in poor lighting, unusual fonts, or screen glare conditions
  • Earnings calculations are estimates — actual earnings may differ from what FareChecked displays
  • We do not guarantee that any calculation, fare reading, or estimate is correct
  • You remain responsible for all decisions based on the information FareChecked provides

The Service is provided as a convenience tool. You should verify critical information independently.

5. Platform independence

FareChecked is an independent third-party application. We are:

  • NOT affiliated with Uber Technologies, Inc.
  • NOT affiliated with Bolt Technology OÜ
  • NOT endorsed, authorised, or sponsored by any ride-hailing platform

Use of FareChecked does not create any relationship between FareChecked and any ride-hailing platform. Nothing in these Terms should be construed as altering your relationship with any platform.

6. What FareChecked does not do

For clarity, FareChecked does not:

  • Auto-accept ride offers
  • Click buttons or interact with driver apps
  • Access your platform account credentials
  • Share your driving data with third parties
  • Make decisions on your behalf

FareChecked is a passive, read-only tool that displays information about what is already visible on your screen.

7. Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights in the FareChecked App, including but not limited to software code, design, graphics, logos, and documentation, are owned by FareChecked or its licensors.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App for its intended purpose on a device you own or control.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use the App to create a competing product

The name "FareChecked" and associated logos are trademarks of FareChecked.

8. Subscription and payment

FareChecked offers a free trial period followed by a paid subscription. By subscribing, you agree to the pricing and billing terms presented at the time of purchase.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Google Play Store
  • Refunds are handled in accordance with Google Play's refund policies
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied

  • We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure

  • FareChecked and its creators, officers, and employees shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

    • Lost earnings or income
    • Lost business opportunities
    • Damage to reputation
    • Data loss
    • Any loss arising from incorrect OCR readings or earnings estimates

  • Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FareChecked and its creators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Your violation of any ride-hailing platform's Terms of Service
  • Your use of the App in violation of applicable law

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, if:

  • You breach these Terms
  • We reasonably suspect fraudulent or abusive activity
  • We discontinue the Service (with reasonable notice where practicable)

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the App ceases immediately
  • Your account data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability, disclaimers, and intellectual property) will survive

You may terminate your account at any time by using the in-app "Delete My Account" feature or by contacting us. See our Data Deletion page for instructions.

12. Third-party services

The App integrates with Google services (Firebase, ML Kit). Your use of these services is subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you of material changes through the App or by email where practical

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App and delete your account.

14. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

This choice of law does not affect any mandatory consumer protections you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and FareChecked regarding your use of the App, superseding any prior agreements.
